I had read that she recorded the song with red zone and played it for madonna backstage at the MTV VMAS. madonna dropped in her vocals and wrote some verses and sent it to britney. britney being thrilled her idol was on her track lobbied for it to be the first single. idk thats just what i’ve read.

Dude! relax! read well b4 u reply!! After Britney recorded the song, she played it to Madonna, who loved the song and decided it shld be the first single, blah blah blah. What i’m saying is that after that, Madonna sent a copy of the record to Britney but with her voice on it, and i remember reading that Britney said when she heard it she was so surprised and cried…. that’s what i read i dn’t know, just dn’t freak out on me!!

Britney initially recorded this song with Redzone. At the MTV awards, just 2 months before the album dropped, Britney played Madonna a few demos. She’d just written and recorded ‘Me Against The Music;. Madonna loved the song, and insisted that this should be the first single, instead of ‘Outrageous’ (as initially planned – but Britney objected to this).
Since Madonna loved the song so much, Britney asked her personally if she would sing on it, and Madonna happily accepted…

imoodle, are you kidding? Do you even know what you’re talking about? So Britney released her song and – SURPRISE – Madonna suddenly appears on it out of nowhere?
Britney has talked publically, several times, about how the collabaration came about. The original ‘Me Against The Music’ was already in circulation just before the VMAs, when Madonna said she would guest on it. We know how the collabaration came about, they’ve talked about it enough times!

Madonna has co-writing credits for the song. She wrote her own lines only, the “Hey Britney” stuff….
This is the FIRST and to this date, the ONLY time that Madonna has guested on another artists’ CD. Madonna broke the habit of a professional lifetime here for Britney, which just goes to show the level of respect these two artists have for one another…
Madonna wrote her lines as a direct respone to Britney’s own lyrics…”You say you wanna lose control/I’d rather see you bare your soul” etc
