you got to hand it to “the old brit” at least she wasn’t snobby like avril lavigne – who’s extremely moody –
Simon is asking her weird questions, but she’s still having a laugh whilst answering them. Many people (like avril lavigne) wouldn’t want to answer it because they think the interviewer is takin the mick out of them.

What’s good about the lick battery joke is that he sandwiches it in between the questions “Any regrets?” and “What have you given up for fame?”, which mean that Britney Spears is not expecting the joke and also that Simon doesn’t go over the top in making jokes. Also Simon keeps a really straight face when asking that question, and also whilst listening to Britney’s answer. I’ve watched this clip so many times and it really does amaze me how well Simon keeps a straight face when he needs to.
